Scottish Government’s failure to double the number of school nurses in Tayside revealed

11 March 2011

Marlyn Glen said today that the failure of the SNP to double the number of school nurses in the NHS Tayside area was " the latest in a long line of broken promises from the SNP Government."

Ms. Glen said,

" They promised in their election manifesto for this Parliament that they would double the number of school nurses.

"However, the latest official figures show that the number of school nurses in NHS Tayside have increased from 21.5 in 2007 to 28.5 this January.

" This increase falls far short of the doubling of their number that was promised.

"At this rate of increase it will be many years before this promise can be met."
